Beginning his career in Perth, Western Australia in 1999 as a national finalist in the Raw Comedy competition, Gavin moved to Melbourne in 2000 and cut his comedy teeth performing at iconic comedy rooms including The Prince Patrick Hotel and The Espy alongside Australia's top comedians.
He has written, produced and performed in ten Melbourne International Comedy Festivals and has been a featured performer in five Hobart Comedy Festivals. In 2005 Gavin was a recipient of the Brian McCarthy Memorial Moosehead Award for his show As Seen on TV. As well as performing he has managed professional comedy rooms in Melbourne and Hobart.
Gavin has appeared on Channel 10's 7PM Project and The Comedy Channel's Stand-Up Australia, has performed around Australia and overseas, featured in a number of TV commercials and has been a regular guest on ABC radio, 7HOFM in Hobart and Love Sport Radio in London. He has supported international comedians including Tommy Tiernan, Jeff Green and 'Weird Al' Yankovic and was a regular headline comedian on Carnival cruise ships. Gavin's jokes have featured in the compilation book Funny Buggers (Penguin, 2011), The Reader's Digest and in the June 16th 2008 issue of Zoo Weekly in a list of 101 best stand-up gags. His tweets have been reprinted in a number of newspapers and on The Huffington Post website.
Gavin collaborated with Damian Callinan on his feature film The Merger. The movie was released in 2018 and Gavin has numerous screen credits and a couple of memorable cameo appearances in it. Keep an eye out.
