Have you ever watched a comedian and thought "I could do that"? Here's your chance to find out if you could. Gavin's workshops cover all facets of stand-up from how to begin thinking about doing comedy to writing and performing professional level comedy routines.
Originally devised as a stand-up comedy course for Adult Education in Hobart, Gavin's workshops are designed to help new comedians start performing more professionally, more quickly and to help them avoid the more common pitfalls that come in the first few years of doing stand-up. The workshops are also great for motivation and team building as well as improving your communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
Gavin also offers one-on-one tutoring for beginners and working comedians and corporate training for people looking to improve their presentation and communication skills.
A veteran of over twenty five years in the industry and with ten Melbourne International Comedy Festivals under his belt, Gavin has extensive stand-up experience and has performed around the Australia, overseas and on the seas as a feature act on Carnival, Royal Carribean and Holland America cruise lines. He has appeared on the Comedy Channel, ABC-TV and The 7PM Project and was script consultant on the Australian feature film The Merger, in which he also has a memorable cameo.

Testimonials
"I recently completed Gavin's beginner comedy course. It gave me all the skills I needed to turn my funny stories into a strong stand up set. With this knowledge I wrote a set that got me an honourable mention at this year's state final of RAW Comedy. It is really addictive and once you do the course and graduate show, you will want more of those sweet, sweet laughs." - Sharnie Stimm
"I found the course highly professional. It gave me the confidence and the tools to craft my comedy and actually get up on stage to perform it! Gav managed to lend his years of experience in the industry to give invaluable tips and tricks. Some of which have flowed on into my social and work life. I recommend the course to anyone with an inclination to comedy and a will to get up on stage." - Mick Davies
"If only all professional development was this much fun. If you’re going to invest in improving your communication skills, do it this way. Gav will teach you how to focus on your audience, pay attention to your non-verbal cues, get to the point, and find humour in any situation. He’ll also show you how to feel more comfortable and improve every single time you stand up to speak." - Suzy Cooper
"Gavin carefully and thoroughly covers the entire process of performing standup; explaining, simply, the theory behind being funny, the performance process, performance etiquette and much more. Gavin's warm and generous nature allow him to foster a unique and individual performance from each student" - Adam James
"I went into the course scared of making a fool of myself, enjoyed every session immensely and graduated unafraid of playing the fool. Thank you, Gavin." - Martine Delaney
"The most valuable Adult Ed course I've ever done. Although I'd performed stand-up many times before, Gavin's wealth of experience in the industry was invaluable." - Ted Wilson
"For someone who is indeed terrified about branching their act into this area it was invaluable. Thanks again, I really absorbed a lot from it". - Brent
"It was a great opportunity for me to try something that had always held an attraction for me and I have you to thank - so THANKS" - Belinda D
